Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

To email any of the event chairs for the Specialty, see the Contacts page.

Here are a few questions people have been asking:

Q: Where is the emergency information for the show, including emergency vets?
A: All of that information, plus the contact info for the Emergency Coordinatior, is here.
Q: Can we make our host hotel reservations yet?
A: Yes! See the Host Hotel page for details. To make your reservation online, click the Marriott logo on that page. You can also make hotel and camping reservations near the herding trial site.
Q: What about RV reservations?
A: You can make RV reservations at the host hotel when the Planning Guide is published. Note that there will be no water hookup, or other hookups, available at the host hotel. The RV Parking and Camping page lists some nearby full-service campgrounds.
Q: Is there an off-leash dog park near the hotel?
A: Yes! The closest park to the host hotel is the Bryant Lake Regional Park in Eden Prairie, MN. The City of Minneapolis also operates a system of dog parks. Visit the Local Attractions page for information on the dog parks.
Q: Why are the prices for the bronze and logowear higher for PayPal than they are for mail order?
A: PayPal charges our club a percentage of the total price (including shipping) for each sale we make using their service. Credit card companies typically charge higher rates for card purchases, and merchants usually add that charge into the price of items for all purchasers. We only add the surcharge in as a convenience surcharge for PayPal users. If you don't want to pay the surcharge, you can still order by mail or buy items at the show.
Q: What the heck are "Bucky Bucks?"
A: "Bucky Bucks" are special stamps used as incentives for certain activities related to the Specialty. You can collect them and redeem them for purchases at the Specialty Mercantile. For more information about "Bucky Bucks," look here.
Q: Why didn't I get a copy of the Planning Guide in the mail?
A: We've decided to go green this year by offering the Planning Guide online, along with all the forms you'll need to sign up for all of the Specialty events. If someone you know needs a printed version due to lack of computer access, contact the Show Chairs and they'll send out a printed copy by snail mail.
Q: Where do I find the Premium List?
A:There are actually three Premium Lists for this Specialty: one for Agility, one for Herding, and one main premium list for Conformation, Obedience, and Rally. You can download them from the Downloads page, the main Events page, or the pages for the corresponding events.
Q: How do I enter the Specialty competition events?
A:Conformation, Obedience, Rally, and Agility events can be entered online at www.allwaysawinner.com, or you can snail-mail the printable entry form included in your premium list to the Show Secretary. Herding Test/Trial and Instinct Test events have snail-mail-only entries. Use the printable entry forms and mail them to the Herding Trial Secretary. All entries close on September 2, so please mail early!
Q: How do I reserve grooming space before the show?
A: Contact Joanne Williamson, Conformation Chair, by September 1. For more information, look here.
Q: What is that Twitter thing on the right side of the Web page?
A: Twitter is a way to share brief updates and other information. If you set up a Twitter account and click the "follow bcca2009" item on the right side of the page, you can have announcements sent to your email — or even your cell phone — whenever we make updates to the Web site. You can even use Twitter to keep in touch with some fellow Beardie people. By the way, we also have an event page on Facebook.
Q: What are all those other weird little icons on the right side of the Web page?
A: Those give you additional ways to get updates from the BCCA 2009 Web site. If you have a smart Web browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer, or an email program such as Mac Mail or Thunderbird, click the RSS button to have updates delivered to you automatically. (RSS is explained here.) If you use any of the other Web sites shown (such as My Yahoo!), clicking any of those buttons will allow you to add updates to the Web page you choose. Go ahead and try it!
